TRICKLING WATERS

Trickling waters

dripping down cold crevices

into potholes

on the ground.

Dreams engraved

on the half-covered sky

peering through

a light

captured between the spaces:

paper-thin holes

a cross-generational infestation

in cemented bricks

leaking gold.

Tightened collars

strapped around the neck

made of copper, not silver

a life’s choice

served on the civil tongue.

The papillary ridges on the walls

made too thin for the rain;

two buckets filled

a third readied

in waiting hands.

Jasmin Hajro was born on July 6th, 1985 in Bosnia and Hercegovina.

He grew up in the village of Gora and went to school there.

When the war started, the family moved a few times in Bosnia, and eventually, Jasmin, 

his mother and his sister fled the country.

His father stayed back to fight as a soldier.

The family fled to the Netherlands where he resides now.

Jasmin suffered serious personal tragedies both mentally and physically before

This is a book that gives insight into How to Grow Money, as written and experienced

by the author, Jasmin Hajro.

He starts the memoir with a few short lines about what he has done and been through

over the course of his travels recently. How he had to endure the bad weather and cold but

in spite of it all, he continues selling his products, writing, and marketing his books.

He prides on listening to self-help audiobooks to increase his knowledge.

He lists his formula to make and create money. He advocates that weekends are

for people who are broke. Poor people need to work seven days a week. A tough formula,

especially, in trying weather conditions to follow, but Mr. Hajro speaks through experience

and is relentless.

The formula for getting rich and wealthy is:

I multiply money ( I buy 5 greeting cards for 1 euro and sell them for 1 euro a piece

About the Book: 

Andrew Wyman is a successful lawyer whose work takes precedence over his wife and 

two children over a 20-year marriage. 

His wife Mary becomes frustrated with him for not getting more involved with the family they raised together, especially his lack of love and concern for her and his inattention to their teenage son, and his falling grades.

But, Andrew Wyman sees himself as a provider. He brings home the paycheck and looks into their every need financially. He believes that is enough love and attention showered on his family.

He hires a therapist, Mr. Boggs to counsel his wife. In one of the sessions, after his refusal to see things from his wife's perspective, she asks for a divorce. She leaves him a note, sends the kids to his sister's house, and goes to stay with a friend.

Then, the strangest thing happens when he gets back home after the therapy session. A genie in the form of Mr. Boggs becomes his unmasking.

The genie unveils the struggles of another family who is undergoing the same situation. Andrew Wyman realizes how wrong he was and makes a conscious effort to redeem himself with his wife and children.

Shobana's Note:

This story with a whimsical touch is reminiscent of what a lot of families face in modern times. Often family life suffers neglect in the chase for power and money. The short story is well-written and I recommend it as a good read.
